Anirban Lahiri makes solid start with 4-under 68 at Valero Texas Open
Anirban Lahiri started his Texas Open campaign with a blistering 4-under 68 to lie tied-7 after the first round on Thursday.
Lahiri, who left all speechless with his performance at the Player Championship two weeks ago, made a solid start at the challenging TPC San Antonio to be in a strong position heading into round two.
Scottish golfer Russell Knox, who is searching for his third PGA Tour title for six years, claimed first- round lead after carding a spectacular 7-under 65 at the US$ 8,600,000 prize money event.

The 36-year-old Knox had an error-free opening round to enjoy at the top of the leaderboard. Rasmus Hojgaard was a further shot back at 6-under 66.
Hojgaard was playing flawless with six birdies and an eagle before he made a mistake on the final hole that resulted in double-bogey.
A pack of four golfers, including the veteran Matt Kuchar, were tied-3rd after all posted a matching 5- under 67s on an opening day.
Lahiri, who took a two-week break following his electrifying performance at the world's fifth most important golf tournament, returned to the field with the same vigour and had a terrific day on the field to maintain his confidence for the next day's challenge.
After starting the first-nine holes on a steady note with even-par 36, the 2-time European Tour winner witnessed a bogey on the par-4 first hole, but he bounced back with a birdie on second followed by two pars, a birdie on the 5th, and par-birdie-birdie-birdie on the final four holes to end his day at 4-under 68.
Pre-tournament favourite Rory McIlroy had a modest day at work as he only managed to score an even-par 72 to be placed at tied-72nd.
