BCCI question bio-bubble protocols after New Zealand players trip to golf course
The Indian team management has raised questions about the bio-secure protocols at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton for the ICC World Test Championship final after some New Zealand players went to the golf course within the premises, according to a report by a leading cricket website.
As reported by Cricbuzz, New Zealand's Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Henry Nicholls, Mitchell Santner, Daryl Mitchell, and physio Tommy Simsek went to the golf course on Tuesday morning. The Indian team manager informed the ICC that the team considers the act a violation of the bio bubble protocol.
A team member told Cricbuzz, “The players and their family members were asked not to step out except to go to the ground from their floor. But this morning, we got information that six players from the Kiwi team have gone to the golf course."
The ICC, however, said that this did not violate the protocol and now Indians too can move around freely given their mandatory quarantine period is over.
Apparently New Zealand management said that there's no breach in the bubble as the golf court is adjacent (attached) to the hotel.
Further, the protocol in England ordains that players from Green List countries [Eg. New Zealand] require no quarantine while India is on the red list, which mandates 10-day isolation.
The World test championship final between India and New Zealand will start on June 18th at the Rose Bowl cricket stadium, Southampton.
