TaylorMade SIM vs Stealth drivers

After highly successful years in the golf market, the brand TaylorMade once again raised the bar this year by launching the carbon-wood Stealth drivers, which they claim revolutionary.

First, TaylorMade surprised all of us with the SIM family in 2020 when everyone was expecting M7 and M8, and now in 2022, the brand again came up with a new series instead of SIM3.

The Stealth drivers which are designed with a 60xcarbon face grabbed a lot of eyeballs considering their unique making. But the big question is will these stealth drivers would be able to match the success of the popular SIM drivers?

Let's find out.

SIM, SIM2, Stealth Plus

Sim

The sensational looking Sim created a mammoth kind of excitement among golfers, thanks to its different colour combinations, The driver, which was designed for players who have a consistent shot shape or only miss single shots across the face, delivered the same what it promised.

Collin won two majors with the help of the Sim driver, the PGA Championship in 2020 and The Open in 2021.

Sim2

The 2021 Sim, launched as Sim2, took the market by storm with its exceptional performance.

The driver, which was designed to produce greater power than the senior Sim, has earned such a particular place in the hearts of keen golfers that, despite multiple new drivers, players are still not ready to say goodbye to Sim2.

The Sim2 is the same club Rory used to break his winless streak of 18 months at the Wells Fargo Championship in May 2021. Last year, the Sim2 helped many other players to secure a win on the PGA Tour, including Jason Kokrak, and Lucas Herbert.

Stealth Plus

TaylorMade has finally released its long-awaited driver with a carbon wood face instead of the usual metal wood. The driver comes with 60 layers of carbon fibre that strategically arranged to optimize energy transfer to deliver fast ball speeds over a large area of distance and forgiveness.

Apart from various other advancements from the brand’s previous models, the face of the new age carbon wood driver is 20% larger than the Sim and 10% bigger than the Sim2 drivers.

The Stealth Plus is the most consistent driver available in the market right now and is currently in the bag of many top players, including Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, Collin Morikawa, and Rory McIlroy.

SIM Max, SIM2 Max, Stealth

SIM Max

The main idea behind Sim Max is to provide maximum speed and forgiveness. It launched as a game improvement that fits the majority of golfers, and to be honest, the first Max reached the bag of the majority of players, and they’ve enjoyed playing with this as well.

SIM2 Max

As we have already stated in our publications, the Max is all about forgiveness. The driver is extremely quick on the face, producing more spin and higher flight than the Sim 2.The Sim2 Max has a 20g back weight positioned on the tip of the inertia generator in the sole, which ups by 70 MOI over the Sim.

Stealth

Stealth was created with golfers in mind who want more forgiveness. The new Stealth driver incorporates the proven twist face technology initially seen in the M3 and M4 drivers, which aids in the promotion of quicker ball speeds. When I tested it on the course with the Sky Trak, the stimulator registered a three-mph improvement in clubhead speed and a two-per cent gain in total carry over the Sim Max.

Stealth comes with the brand’s adjustable hosel with 12 different loft/lie settings, along with head weight adjustability to create a more consistent and optimized ball flight.

Hudson Swafford, the 2022 American Express champion, has a stealth driver in his bag at the moment.

SIM Max D, SIM2 Max D, Stealth HD

Sim Max D

The third model of new-line-up for 2020 was Max D, which was engineered to help golfers avoid the right side of the course by strategically placed and divergent topline masking, which makes the driver look more open at the address and help golfers close the face at impact.

Sim 2 Max D

The successor of the highly impressive SIM MAX D launched as a draw-biased driver without any compromise. Sim2 Max D has the same DNA of Sim Max D but with added performance, as the driver targeted golfers who miss right and needed more forgiveness with high launch.

Stealth HD

The draw-biased model amongst the latest arrivals, the Stealth HD is also the lowest spinning driver amongst all three as well.

Stealth HD is also the most powerfully sounded driver wherever it struck off the face making this driver an open option for golfers who struggles with slicing off the tee.
