Gaurika Bishnoi shoots sublime 66 to take first-round lead at Boulder Hills
Gaurika Bishnoi started her 2022 journey with a sublime 66 to take a 5-shot lead at the first leg of Hero WPGT on Wednesday.
The 2-time Hero WPGT Order of Merit champion Bishnoi, who is a strong contender on the course, once again proved her mettle at the challenging Boulder Hills Golf & Country Club by letting all her competitors’ 5-shot behind going into the second round.
Bishnoi began her campaign alongside Hitaashee Bakshi from the first tee and had a solid first nine-hole game, making three birdies without making any mistakes.
She maintained her fine form with a par on the 10th, followed by a birdie on the 11th, before recording a bogey on the 12th.
The young Bishnoi bounced back with two straight birdies, three pars, and one more birdie to finish day one at 6-under 66.
Three golfers, including two amateurs, Sneha Singh and Jasmine Shekhar, alongside professional Jyotsana Singh were at tied-2nd spot with 1-under 71.
The star attraction Ridhima Dilawari had a recent start to her 2022 campaign as she managed to card an even-par 72 on the first day of the opening event of Hero WPGT 2022 season.
4-time WPGT champion Jahanvi Bakshi was a further shot back at tied-6th alongside Anisha Aggarwal.
