Nitithorn Thippong claims maiden Asian Tour title in Delhi
Nitithorn Thippong outshined Ajeetesh Sandhu on the first playoff hole to win the inaugural DGC Open on Sunday.
The Thailand golfer Thippong, who started the final round with a two-shot advantage, faced a tough challenge on the final day as the Indian Ajeetesh was not in a mood to hand him an easy win.
Sandhu started his final day campaign with a birdie, followed by eight straight pars, but he was still two strokes behind Nitithorn after shooting 1-under 35 on the front nine.

The real nail-biting game started on the back-nine when Nitithorn bogeyed the 10th while Sandhu smashed it for a birdie to narrow the gap. But then Sandhu made his first bogey of the day on the 11th to again slip down to two shots back. Both made pars on the 12th.
Ajeetesh turned the tide in his favour with two birdies on the 13th and 14th holes, while Nitithorn had a par and a bogey.
Both again made pars on the 15th before Nitithorn made a bogey on 16th to give Ajeetesh a two-shot advantage with two holes left in the play.
The 33-year old Sandhu, missed the chance and double-bogeyed the seventeenth, leaving both golfers at even par coming into the last hole.
Both Sandhu and Nitithorn maintained the calmness on the final hole, and both smashed a birdies to force a playoff before the young man of Thailand secured his first-ever victory Asian Tour with a birdie on the first extra playoff.
Settee Prakongvech finished solo third in the event, while veteran Indian Gaganjeet Bhullar finished fourth.
The best round of the day was played by Dantai Boonma of Thailand, who in the first three days only had over-par rounds shot an 8-under 64 on the fourth and final round to finish tied-10th.
