Rory McIlroy falls to 15 in OWGR

The former World No. 1 fell to 15th in the latest World Golf Rankings, which is his worst mark since Nov. 8, 2009, when he was No. 17.

The four-time major champion is currently struggling with his form and has missed three cuts in his last six events.

In March, he also changed his coach in order to regain his missing confidence while swinging the club. McIlroy appointed Pete Cowen as his instructor, who has worked with such notables as Brooks Koepka, Henrik Stenson, Sergio Garcia, and Lee Westwood.

The Northern Irishman’s last appearance on the PGA Tour was at The Masters in April, where he missed the cut. But, now he is set to return to action on the PGA Tour this week at the Wells Fargo Championship, which may help to rekindle his form.

The 2019 PGA Tour Champion has won twice at Quail Hollow Golf Club, and he became the tournament's youngest-ever winner in 2010 when he finished four shots ahead of the legend Phil Mickelson.

McIlroy's best PGA Tour finish in 2020-21 was a T5 at the Masters in November. He hasn't won on the PGA Tour since the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions in November 2019.
