Scottie Scheffler builds 5-shot lead at halfway stage of The Masters

World No.1 Scottie Scheffler showed his class on the second day of the first major tournament of season 2022 with a solid 5-under 67 to build a mammoth 5-shot lead.
Scheffler, who recently claimed the No.1 ranking in the world, lived up to his reputation and impressed everyone to grab a massive lead heading into the weekend action at the iconic Augusta National Golf Club.

Four players, including the overnight leader Sungjae Im, were at tied-2nd with matching scores of 3-under 141 at the halfway stage of Masters 2022.

The 25-year-old Scottie had a mixed start to his second-day campaign with a bogey-birdie-bogey, but he bounced back with five birdies and ten even pars in the remaining fifteen holes to emerge as the leader at the midway point.
Pre-tournament favourite Jon Rahm made a slight improvement and carded an even-par 72 in round two to climb up from overnight tied-43 to tied-23rd.
While the four-time major champion Rory McIlroy shot a second straight round of 1-over 73 to be at tied-23rd alongside Jon Rahm and thirteen others.

The big cat Tiger Woods made his twenty-second consecutive cut at the Masters after carding 1-over 145 in two days.
Woods, who made his return to the competitive field nearly after 17 months, shot four birdies against six bogeys in round two to comfortably made the cut, thanks to his round one 71.
Zach Johnson, who won the Masters in 2007, only managed to post 5-over 149 in two days and missed the cut by one stroke.
Among the other notable who failed to make the cut were Sam Burns, Lucas Herbert, Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka, Abraham Ancer, Xander Schauffele, Justin Rose, Gary Woodland, Bryson DeChambeau, and Louis Oosthuizen.
