Who will win the PGA player of the year 2019?

The PGA Tour on this Wednesday announced the name of the nominees for 2019 Player of the year award.

Tour Player directors and members of its Player Advisory Council finalized the top four contendors to win the Player of the year 2019.

The four nominees for the PGA Tour POY are Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy, Matt Kuchar, and Xander Schaufelle. The winner of the award receives the Jack Nicklaus trophy.

The World’s No.1 golfer Brooks Koepka has won three tournaments this year, including the PGA Championship. Koepka had 9 top ten finishes and tied-third position in the 2019 FedEx Cup standings. He also finished runner-up in the Masters Tournament (April 19) and the U. S Open (June 19).

The Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy played impressively this year; he ended his season with three major tournament win and had 14 top-ten finishes. He becomes the champion of FedEx Cup 2019 and claims the $15 million reward which is the highest payout in the golf history.

Veteran golfer Matt Kuchar has won two events this year and had 8 top-ten finishes. The 41 years old American finished at tied 16th position in the FedEx Cup standings.

Xander Schaufelle enjoys a successful PGA Tour season 2018-19, in which he had won two events and had 8 top-ten finishes. Schaufelle played well in the Tour Championship (the final event of the FedEx Cup 2019) and settled alone at the second position in the standings.

Brooks Koepka looks like the top contender to win PGA POY, as he is somewhat ahead from the FedEx Cup 2019 Champion Rory McIlroy, and also from Matt Kuchar and Xander Schaufelle.

The result of the Player of the year award is finalized by voting, and the golfers who had completed in at least 15 tournaments in a season are eligible to vote, before Sept 6 at 5 p.m E.T.
