Anirban Lahiri builds 1-shot at rain-delayed Players Championship
On the third day of the Players Championship, Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri stole the center stage by taking a one-shot lead in the rain-delayed PGA Tour event.
Lahiri, who started with a blistering 5-under 67, made a little disappointing 1-over 73 at the challenging conditions at the TPC Swaggers in Florida.But he bounced back with six birdies against a single bogey thru 11 holes to claim the crown’s place before the the play was suspended due to darkness.

Tom Hoge and Harold Varner III shared the tied-2nd, while the lowest score before the halt was secured by the Columbian golfer Munoz Sebastian, who in 14 holes shot 6-under.
Anirban got off to a good start in the difficult circumstances, making five birdies on the opening nine holes. He then bogeyed the par-4 10th hole but recovered with his sixth birdie of the day on the par-5 11th hole to sit on the top spot.
No. 1 in the world After the torrential rains, Jon Rahm appeared bewildered on the course, shooting 3-under 141 in two days and 1-over through 12 holes in the third round to tie for 38th.
The play will resume early on Monday morning. Players will first complete their remaining third-round game, followed by the final round’s 18 holes.
The winner of this event will not only get a whopping $3.6 million but a three-year exemption to the Masters, U.S and the Open Championship.
