Jahanvi Bakshi takes one-shot lead over Hitaashee Bakshi in 12th leg of Hero WPGT
The young and talented Jahanvi Bakshi showed some great game on the first day of the 12th leg of Hero WPGT to grab a one-stroke lead over her sister Hitaashee Bakshi.
Jahanvi, a two-time WGAI winner, got off to a good start with a 1-under 70 at the Hyderabad Golf Club to take the first-round lead.
The Delhi-based golfer had two birdies against a single bogey in her opening round at the Rs. 9 Lakh event.
The younger sister of Jahanvi, Hiitaashee Bakshi, shot two back-to-back bogeys on the 4th and 5th hole, but she stayed calm on the field and shot two birdies, first on the seventh and then on the fourteenth to finish her round just one shot behind the leader Jahanvi.
The experienced Gaurika Bishnoi had a dreary first nine holes in which she shot four bogeys and just one birdie, but she recovered well and didn’t make any errors on the back nine and also smashed two birdies to end her first-day campaign at solo-third place.
2020-21 WPGT Order of Merit leader Amandeep Drall also had a steady round of a two-over 73 at the challenging conditions to share the tied-fourth spot with veteran Vani Kapoor and amateur Sneha Singh.
Leg no.9 winner Lakhmehar Pardesi posted 3-over 74 to be placed solo seventh.
