Vani Kapoor shoots 5-under 67, grabs first-round lead in 13th leg of Hero WPGT

Seasoned golfer Vani Kapoor showed her class on the challenging Boulder Hills Golf Club to grab the first-round lead at the 13th leg of Hero WPGT.

Twenty-nine time Hero WPGT champion Vani posted a solid 5-under 67 in the opening round to take a three-shot advantage at the Rs. 10 Lakh Prize money event.

Vani started her campaign with five consecutive pars, then a bogey on sixth and finished her front nine with par-par-birdie on the remaining holes. She carried the momentum of the ninth hole birdie and shot five birdies with zero errors on the back nine to comfortably sit three strokes above her competitors.

WPGT Fourth-leg champion Sehar Atwal also played a decent game on golf on the first day and shot 2-under 70 to secure a solo second spot.

While Saaniya Sharma of Chandigarh and Mysore’s Pranavi Urs share the tied-3rd position after carding a matching 1-under 71.

WPGT Order of Merit leader Amandeep Drall carded an even-par 72 to share the tied-5th place with last week’s champion Jahanvi Bakshi.
